Youth Affairs Office in Homs Holds Dialogue Session to Promote Community Participation and Youth Empowerment
The Youth Affairs Office in Homs,
in cooperation with the “Violet” organization, held a dialogue session on
Wednesday focusing on ways to empower young people and strengthen their role in
community development. The session comes as part of ongoing efforts to support
active youth participation across various fields.
Encouraging Constructive Engagement and Volunteerism
Held under the title “Community
Participation and Youth”, the session emphasized the
importance of promoting a culture of constructive work and volunteerism, while
encouraging young people to launch initiatives that contribute to positive
change. Mohammad Jabr, Director of the Youth Affairs Office, stated that the
session highlighted the need to integrate youth into both political and social
structures, and to guide their energy toward sectors that require their skills
and contributions. He added that the office is committed to attracting
innovative initiatives that reflect the vital role of youth in the post‑liberation
phase and support their involvement in community-building.
Experiences in Youth Support and Leadership Development
Baybars Jandiyah, Director of
Emergency and Disaster Management in Homs, reviewed the ministry’s experience
in supporting and training youth during and after the Syrian crisis. He
stressed the importance of empowering young people to become active and
influential members of their local communities, strengthening institutional
work, and equipping them with leadership skills essential for personal
development.
Opening Channels Between Youth and Decision-Makers
Ward Al‑Ahmad, Community Project
Officer at “Violet,” emphasized the value of such sessions in creating direct
communication channels between youth and decision-makers concerned with their
issues. She noted that these activities enhance young people’s dialogue skills
and prepare them to participate effectively in decision-making processes that
impact their lives and communities.
