Homs Health Directorate Launches “Recovery Gateway” to Raise Awareness on Addiction Treatment Services
The Homs Health Directorate has
launched the “Recovery
Gateway” platform as part of its efforts to expand public awareness
about addiction risks and the services available for treatment. The launch
coincided with an awareness seminar dedicated to journalists and social media
influencers, aiming to introduce the community to addiction treatment centers
and encourage individuals to seek help without fear or stigma.
Media Partnership to Promote Treatment and Recovery
Dr. Abdul Karim Ghali, Director of
Homs Health Directorate, emphasized the importance of partnering with media
outlets to spread a culture of treatment and recovery. He noted that addiction
poses a serious threat to both individuals and society, adding that work is
underway to open new treatment centers and rehabilitate the main facility for
complex cases near Al‑Harith Hospital on the Hama road.
Free and Confidential Services at Recovery Centers
Dr. Ghadeer Salibi, Head of Public
Health Programs, stressed the need for society to accept addiction cases
without stigma, highlighting that patients should be treated with the same
respect as any other patient. She confirmed that recovery services are provided
free of charge and with full confidentiality at the central clinic in Al‑Bayyada,
as well as the centers in Al‑Khaldiya and Karm Al‑Louz.
The Role of Media in Correcting Misconceptions and Supporting Recovery
Dr. Ismail Hussein, Head of the
Mental Health Division, presented the crucial role of media in combating
addiction by correcting misconceptions and encouraging individuals to seek
treatment without fear of legal consequences. He pointed to the activation of
the “Recovery
Gateway” platform and its dedicated WhatsApp number to facilitate
communication with those seeking help before their condition worsens.
